EVENT DESCRIPTION
This 2-day workshop is designed to teach dog owners and those who work with dogs in a shelter or rescue how to help dogs that become overly stressed or excited when they are on leash and may lunge, bark and appear aggressive or threatening when they see other dogs, people, or other environmental triggers.*(see below for who this workshop is NOT for)
You will learn how to teach your dog the life skills needed to navigate our human world, and exist more comfortably and safely in environments that previously provoked anxiety, heightened arousal levels and reactivity.
All attendees will receive their own Guide to Leash Reactivity 101 containing all the information and exercises conducted in the workshop, as well as exclusive access to videos and other supporting materials.
*This workshop is NOT appropriate for dogs that struggle with the following behaviors:
--Dogs whose primary issue is guarding resources, such as food or toys.
--Dogs that fight with other dogs in the household, but are fine with dogs outside the home.
--Dogs that display aggression toward people inside their home, but are fine toward people when on leash and away from home.
--Dogs that only exhibit aggression toward other dogs while OFF LEASH.
--Dogs that are extremely aggressive toward people on or off-leash and/or have bitten people more than once.
--Dogs that re-direct aggression toward their owners or have bitten their owners when becoming reactive on leash. We recommend regular attendee spots for these cases followed by private 1-on-1 sessions with a trainer.
AGENDA
DAY 1
What is UP with my dog? We’ll explore how behavior works and why your dog might behave reactively.
The road to rehab. We’ll dive into the proper use of tools, and lay out a roadmap to help you assess the factors that keep your dog in a learning zone instead of a reactive zone.
Let's do this! You will learn specific Foundation and Emergency Behaviors to teach your dog that you will apply in the real world. Working spots will receive one-on-one coaching with their dogs, and the audience will learn from watching this instruction.
DAY 2
Let's do this! Home Management, Foundation & Emergency Behaviors, and individual sessions with Working Spots.
You've got this! We'll also make sure you have all the info you need to set up successful training sessions so you can confidently lead your dog on his journey in facing and overcoming his real-life challenges.
